SUMMARY:INDEED Webinar: Developing and Implementing Evaluation Support Tools
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Developing and Implementing Evaluation Support Tools \n \n9 July 2024\, 11:00-12:30 CEST \nREGISTER HERE \nThis webinar in collaboration with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) and PrEval offers space to discuss how to develop effective evaluation support tools to close capacity gaps and enable more widespread\, high-quality evaluation in the fields of extremism prevention\, democracy promotion and civic education.  \nSophie Ebbecke and Sarah Bressan (GPPi/PrEval) will share results and recommendations on practices\, structures\, and innovations in evaluating P/CVE and related activities from a new study across 14 countries around the world.  \nOne of the study’s key findings is that actors in the field oftentimes lack the expertise\, knowledge and experience to commission\, conduct or support evaluations in this field and translate the findings into learning processes. For an additional report\, the research team is therefore currently analyzing good practices for developing effective evaluation capacity support tools.  \nIn this webinar\, they will share emerging findings\, examples of innovative capacity building initiatives\, and invite participants to share and discuss their experiences with evaluation toolkits\, guides\, trainings\, networks and other support tools to understand how to close persisting capacity gaps. The webinar will also provide the opportunity to listen to Professor Adrian Cherney from the University of Queensland in Australia\, who will share his experiences developing toolkits and a recent P/CVE evaluation training in Australia.   \nThe webinar is part of the research and transfer project PrEval (Evaluation and Quality Assurance in Extremism Prevention\, Democracy Promotion and Civic Education: Analysis\, Monitoring\, Dialogue)\, which develops formats and structures to strengthen P/CVE evaluation and quality assurance and is funded by the German Ministry of the Interior.  \nPROGRAMME\n11:00 – 11:10  \nIntroduction and Welcome to the INDEED Webinar Series – Kai Brand Jacobsen\, Department of Peace Operations – PATRIR & Senior Expert\, INDEED Knowledge Series \n11:10 – 11:40  \nPractices\, structures\, and innovations in evaluating P/CVE efforts: Sharing key findings and recommendations from a study across 14 countries around the world – Sophie Ebbecke\, Research Associate at the Global Public Policy Institute and Sarah Bressan\, Research Fellow & Project Lead for PrEval at the Global Public Policy Institute \n11:40 – 12:20 \nClosing evaluation capacity gaps: Insights from PreEval on innovative capacity building initiatives and other support tools  – Sophie Ebbecke\, Research Associate at the Global Public Policy Institute and Sarah Bressan\, Research Fellow & Project Lead for PrEval at the Global Public Policy Institute  \nInsights on Developing Toolkits and P/CVE Evaluation Training – Professor Adrian Cherney\, University of Queensland  \n\nModerated Q&A \n\n12:20 – 12:30  \nWrap-up and Overview of Upcoming Events – Kai Brand Jacobsen\, PATRIR \n\nThe INDEED Policy Forum (27-28 June 2024) \nPolicy recommendations workshop: The importance of evaluation for effective designing and evaluation of PVE / CVE / De-radicalisation initiatives (12 July 2024) \nINDEED Final Event and 2nd International Policy & Practitioners Forum: Advancing Evidence-Based Policy\, Practice and Evaluation in the P/CVE\, De-radicalisation and Crime Prevention Fields & Shaping the Future (11-13 September 2024) \nINDEED Webinars & Podcasts \n\nREGISTRATION\nTo attend the webinar\, please register via the registration form available here by 8 July 2024. SUMMARY:EUCPN webinar: Introduction to Qualiprev
DESCRIPTION:On 4 July 2024\, the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) organises the webinar “Introduction to Qualiprev”. \nThe tool EUCPN uses to assess in an objective\, transparent and methodical way whether and to what extent our four quality criteria are met is Qualiprev. Its assessment is based on all available information on a crime prevention initiative and any evaluations that may have been performed. The results allow decision-makers to see whether a crime prevention initiative is effective and whether it is relevant for them and applicable in their local or national context. Qualiprev is designed to be applicable to all crime prevention initiatives\, irrespective of the type and scope of the action and whether or not they have been evaluated.  \nIf you would like to find out more about the tool or learn how to use it\, join this webinar! \nParticipation is free\, but registration is mandatory. Register here. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:INDEED Webinar: Evidence-based crime prevention: the EUCPN’s role in an emerging field
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Evidence-based crime prevention: the EUCPN's role in an emerging field \n \n24 June 2024\, 14:00-15:30 CEST \nREGISTER HERE \nThe European Crime Prevention Network is a platform for knowledge exchange on crime prevention which extends across the 27 EU Member States. The EUCPN is Member State-driven and co-funded by the European Union. In recent years\, it has become one of the main actors in promoting evidence-based crime prevention in the EU and supporting frontline workers in the adoption of the principles of evidence-based prevention through the development of ready-to-implement tools\, consultancy\, and capacity-building.   \nIn this webinar\, Stijn Aerts (EUCPN) will reflect on the state of evidence-based crime prevention in the EU\, including how it compares and translates to other domains\, such as substance use prevention. Results from an EU-wide survey among crime prevention practitioners\, commissioned by the EUCPN\, will be cited. Insufficiently developed prevention infrastructures are the main reason that the crime prevention field is lagging. This is illustrated by means of examples of exceptions to the rule.  \nFinally\, Stijn will introduce the main tools and services developed by the EUCPN to promote and support evidence-based prevention\, paying attention to lessons learned\, successes\, and failures. These include\, among others\, a registry of effective interventions and several trainings for practitioners and decision-makers.  \nRegister to the webinar to learn more about how to do evidence-based prevention and how EUCPN is supporting practitioners for adopting evidence-based practice through ready-to-implement tools\, consultancy\, and capacity-building.  \nPROGRAMME\n14:00 – 14:10  \nIntroduction and Welcome to the INDEED Webinar Series – Kai Brand Jacobsen\, Department of Peace Operations – PATRIR & Senior Expert\, INDEED Knowledge Series \n14:10 – 14:25  \nThe state of evidence-based crime prevention in the EU: Presenting results from an EU-wide survey commissioned by EUCPN – Stijn Aerts\, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the European Crime Prevention Network  \n14:25 – 14:45 \nSupporting evidence-based prevention: Tools and services developed by the EUCPN  – Stijn Aerts\, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the European Crime Prevention Network  \n14:45 – 15:20  \nPromoting evidence-based crime prevention: EUCPN lessons learned\, successes\, and failures – Stijn Aerts\, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the European \n\nModerated Q&A\n\n15:20 – 15:30  \nWrap-up and Overview of Upcoming Events – Kai Brand Jacobsen\, PATRIR \n\nThe INDEED Policy Forum (27-28 June 2024) \nPolicy recommendations workshop: The importance of evaluation for effective designing and evaluation of PVE / CVE / De-radicalisation initiatives (12 July 2024) \nINDEED Final Event and 2nd International Policy & Practitioners Forum: Advancing Evidence-Based Policy\, Practice and Evaluation in the P/CVE\, De-radicalisation and Crime Prevention Fields & Shaping the Future (11-13 September 2024) \nINDEED Webinars & Podcasts \n\nREGISTRATION\nTo attend the webinar\, please register via the registration form available here by 23 June 2024. SUMMARY:RAN Practitioners Training Webinar: Basics in P/CVE
DESCRIPTION:On 6th July\, the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) organises the RAN Practitioners training Webinar on ‘Basics in Prevention/Countering Violent Extremism(P/CVE)’. \nThe training webinar will focus on basic know-how in the field of preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). In the European context\, the EU Radicalisation Awareness Network connects frontline practitioners who engage with vulnerable individuals as well as those already on the path to violent extremism. As civil society representatives\, social workers\, youth workers\, teachers\, healthcare professionals\, local authority representatives\, police and prison officers\, these practitioners are engaged in both preventing and countering violent extremism in all its forms\, including the rehabilitation and reintegration of violent extremists offenders back to society. Through RAN\, practitioners\, policy makers and researchers in the P/CVE field regularly exchange knowledge on their work and improve through best practices in order to achieve the best possible outcomes on the problem of VE. \nIf you are a newcomer to the field of preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) and are interested understanding radicalisation processes into violent extremism and how to address them from a practitioner’s perspective\, then this training webinar is for you! There are a lot of insights that will be shared with participants during the webinar including this tapping on knowledge gathered through RAN meetings\, specialised papers and from the working groups. \n  \nIf you would like to attend this training  webinar\, please register via this link. The deadline for registration is Thursday\, 22 June. \n  \n \n  \n \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:CEP Webinar: The Polish Independence March as a Contact Hub and Model for European Extremism
DESCRIPTION:On 24th April\, the Counter Extremism Project (CEP) invites INDEED to “The Polish Independence March as a Contact Hub and Model for European Extremism” webinar\, presenting the homonym report published by CEP. \nThe Independence March\, held in Warsaw\, Poland\, on November 11 each year\, is the largest nationalist demonstration in the European Union. It enables violence-oriented right-wing extremists (VRWEs) to exchange experiences\, transfer funds\, and conduct recruitment and training. Within the VRWE milieus\, the March is used as a multifaceted\, all-encompassing quasi-lifestyle-event and is promoted as a model in other countries. Therefore\, the March created a transnational ideological apparatus with the ability to generate media topics and address important social issues\, acquiring an increasingly professional look each year.  \n  \nTo participate in this webinar please register via this link: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_4YKjgmmiSYajuRMNcoMJaQ \n  \n \n  \n \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:CEP-GLOBSEC Webinar: Mapping Violent Right-Wing Extremist Groups – Who’s Who In Bulgaria And Hungary
DESCRIPTION:The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) and GLOBSEC invite INDEED to the “Mapping Violent Right-Wing Extremist Groups – Who’s Who In Bulgaria And Hungary” webinar discussing violent right-wing extremist groups in Bulgaria and Hungary\, including their financial networks. \nThe presence of violent right-wing extremist groups in Central Europe is not a new phenomenon. However\, in recent years\, these movements have become increasingly vocal\, active\, engaged\, and violent. The global COVID-19 pandemic as well as the war in Ukraine have added additional themes to their ideological messages\, or ‘alternative narratives’\, as some right-wing movements choose to label them. \nIn addition\, the transformation of some of these movements into full-fledged political parties have led to some electoral successes. More importantly\, some of these parties’ radical messaging have now entered the political mainstream. All Central European countries are experiencing similar developments in this regard\, despite their historical\, national\, and cultural differences. \nThis webinar is a first of a two-part series on Central European extreme right-wing movements and will give an overview of the current situation in Bulgaria and Hungary.  \nTo participate in this webinar please register via this link:https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_PNRNga7yTcWvGVMPbW1FFA \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:INDEED Research Forum - 24th May 2022\, Brussels
DESCRIPTION:INDEED will bring together researchers from across Europe and different disciplinary backgrounds for the research forum ‘evidence-based evaluation in theory and practice: approaches\, methods and tools’. The event will take place on 24 May 2022 at the University Foundation in Brussels. \nThe draft agenda of this 1-day event is available HERE. \nEvent concept \nAt the INDEED research forum\, INDEED partners and invited academic experts will discuss ways to strengthen an evidence-based approach to preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). The discussion will be organized around four sessions\, each of which addresses a set of key questions: \nSession 1: Setting the scene: Evidence-based approaches across academic disciplines \nThe first session of the forum will take stock of the evidence-based movement across academic disciplines\, and discuss relevant challenges to the implementation of evidence-based practices. Key questions addressed in this session include: \n\nWhat are/should be the key principles and features of evidence-based practice?\nWhat are key challenges to the implementation of evidence-based practice? How can relevant challenges be overcome?\nWhat counts/ should count as evidence? What are appropriate approaches/methods/tools for establishing an “evidence base”?\n\nSession 2: Taking stock: Advances and challenges in evidence-based P/CVE and Deradicalization \nThe second session of the forum will focus on the application of evidence-based approaches to the field of P/CVE and Deradicalization\, and discuss relevant challenges to their implementation. Key questions addressed in this session include: \n\nTo what extent and in what form have evidence-based approaches been applied to the field of P/CVE and Deradicalization?\nWhat should an evidence-based approach to P/CVE and Deradicalization look like? Which should be its key components?\nWhat are the most important hurdles for the implementation of an evidence-based approach in P/CVE and Deradicalization? How can these be addressed?\n\nSession 3: Moving Ahead: Strengthening evidence-based practice \nIn its third session\, the forum will discuss different approaches\, methods and tools to strengthen evidence-based practices. Central questions addressed in this session include: \n\nWhich approaches\, methods or tools may be used to strengthen the “evidence base” in P/CVE\, Deradicalization and other areas of crime prevention?\nWhich role should first-line practitioners and policy makers play in the creation of “evidence”?\nWhich approaches\, methods and tools can be used to strengthen the dissemination and utilization of “best available evidence”?\n\nSession 4: Towards an evidence-based approach to evaluation in P/CVE and Deradicalization \nThe final session of the forum will zoom in on the design and implementation of evaluations\, and discuss how evaluations of programmes and initiatives can best serve to realize an evidence-based approach to P/CVE and Deradicalization. Key questions addressed in this session include: \n\nWhich approaches\, methods and tools for the evaluation of programmes and initiatives should be promoted and applied more extensively to strengthen an evidence-based approach to P/CVE and Deradicalization?\nHow can evaluation results be more systematically collected and synthesized? How can they best feed into the creation of an “evidence base”?\nHow can “evidence” produced by the evaluation of programmes and initiatives be more effectively communicated to and utilized by first-line practitioners and policy makers?\n\nThe results of the forum discussions will feed into INDEED’s development of a multi-disciplinary review of evidence-based practice\, and its creation of an evidence-based evaluation model\, a tool aimed at strengthening evidence-based practices in the field of P/CVE and Deradicalization. \nAudience \nThe event is primarily aimed at scientific and research institutions. The number of places is limited. Due to the restricted space\, the event is by invitation only.
